From his first (1969) LP as leader, Extrapolation, to In A Silent Way, Bitches Brew and Jack Johnson with Miles Davis, to the foundation of the Mahavishnu Orchestra and Shakti to the present, Yorkshire-born McLaughlin is one of the great figures in jazz guitar history. A technical master of his instrument as well as a searching innovator, he has established a reputation as a "first-call" session player resulting in recordings as a sideman with Miroslav Vitous, Larry Caryell, Waynen Shorter, Carla Bley and even the Rolling Stones. For his Barbican concert he returns to a powerhouse electric jazz setting with the UK debut of his new small group, featuring Gary Husband on keyboards and drummer Mark Mondesir.‘One of the few Europeans to divert the course of jazz history.‘ The Guardian
